STUDENTS FROM across the Tweed are taking part in a Guinness World Record attempt this weekend (November 25 – 26) as part of the Schools Spectacular at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Schools Spectacular is an outstanding showcase of the talent in NSW public schools and will feature a 2700-strong choir, 2300 diverse dancers, an 80-piece symphony orchestra, a world-class stage band and a huge number of outstanding solo performers.

The cast of the Schools Spectacular is comprised over 5,000 of the state’s most talented singers, dancers and musicians.

An extensive audition process is carried out across the state to bring together students from ages 5 to 18 who will feature in a dazzling display of music, dance and pageantry.

Students from more than 500 public schools across NSW rehearsed for months in preparation for four fantastic shows over two days and nights.

The Tweed will be represented by students from Kingscliff Primary, Kingscliff High, Tweed River High, Tweed Heads Primary, Murwillumbah High and Terranora Primary.

This iconic cultural event engages and showcases students of varying ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds; from metropolitan, rural and remote regions of NSW.

If successful they will secure the record for ‘the largest amateur theatre cast’.

The record attempt is part of a campaign by Schools Spectacular to celebrate its biggest year and show ever.

With the theme Dream Big, the expanded surrounds new home of QUDOS Bank Arena at Sydney’s Olympic Park has enabled more student performers than ever to be part of the colourful professionally staged show.
