Abandoned building burns as arson question hangs

THERE’S SUSPICION a fire at the abandoned Terranora Country Club building in Bilambil Heights last night, was intentionally lit.

The Tweed is dealing with a spat of alleged suspicious fires across the shire, which are resulting in widespread destruction of bush land and now property.

Tweed Police have been carrying out patrols aimed at spotting potential fire bugs with increasing chances someone is eventually apprehended.

Three units from Tweed Heads Firefighters were called to the building fire and crews took about an hour to contain the blaze.

The building caught fire in November 2010 and again in October 2013, with the causes found to be “not suspicious” according to local reports.

The image above was taken in 1997 and the club house has since falling into a derelict state.

Authorities are calling on witnesses to come forward by however means and assist with investigations.
